Malaysian government in collaboration with TalentCorp Malaysia, has launched the Life at Work Awards in 2013. Their intention was to assist Malaysian companies in attracting and retaining Malaysian talents to work in Malaysia. In 2014, the award was enhanced to improve the trends of women representation in decision-making roles, and women-friendly policies as well as work-life practices.
The Life At Work Awards recognizes and celebrates organizations with leading workplace strategies which enable employees to achieve better success at work and in their personal lives by promoting diversity and inclusion (D&I). This will undoubtedly lead to higher employee engagement, a more diverse workforce and ultimately resulting in better productivity and business performance.
The awards focus on 6 categories:
1. Malaysian Organisation.
2. International Organisation.
3. Lean Organisation (less than 500 headcount).
4. New Initiative.
5. Making a Difference.
6. CEO Champion.
As per the previous year, this award recognizes women-friendly employers with leading workplace strategies to champion the diversity and inclusion agenda in the organization. Some of the initiatives presented that won the heart of Malaysian were:
1. Initiative to improve women leadership (%) in the Malaysian Companies
2. Women-Friendly environment including childcare center, nursing room, etc.
3. Fexi-Employment – part-time employment, tele-commiting, etc
4. Flexi-benefits offered to employees
For Nestlé Malaysia, this will be our 3rd year participating in the Life At Work Awards. We won the 1st year – Life At Work Awards 2013, and hoping to get back into the top three (3) leading companies promoting diversity and inclusion to improve employment and productivity.
