MNRA Newsletter - 2014 Nov

10th  November 2014

Dear Members

In recent months, we had droughts and water rationing in certain areas of Malaysia, followed by the haze causing sore throats and coughs amongst many of us. I hope the daily downpours will help alleviate our water levels at the dams. But ensure that you have clean compounds and not leave stagnant water around which can breed Aedes mosquitoes. Dengue has been rampant of late.

Activities held

The unpredictable weather made it hard for us to plan outdoor activities But we managed to hold a couple of events in the last quarter.

1.  MNRA Bowl for Fun Carnival- 24th August at Sunway Mega Lanes

Last year we had overwhelming response for this event and  it was no different last August. A total of 18 teams (vs 15  last year) participated. A fun- filled day for Members and their families, plus some Nestlé employees who formed their own teams. No winners, no losers and all joined in the cheering as they hit a strike, disappointed when the ball rolled into the drain, etc. These were all memories which we will always remember for a long time…. at our age, we can still bowl for fun.

Can you see the familiar faces from last year?

Ekkehard van Leemputten aimed for a strike while Mrs Leong Poh Goek had quite a unique style.

The family team from youngest to the oldest.

It is anticipated that we shall be having another one next year and we hope that more Members will participate with their families.

2.    MNRA Kuching Local Chapter – 6th September 2014

It seemed like we got together only a few months ago. But actually, when we arranged to have a lunch, it fell on 6th Sept 2014, one day before the end of our first anniversary. It was so timely as we celebrated MNRA Kuching Local Chapter 2nd year going forward.

Thanks to Raymond and Laurence, we rounded up about 20 people and even invited an old friend of Nestlé , Cheam Moi Fah, who used to work as our MAGGI Demonstrator in Kuching. Ah Moi as she is fondly known by all Nestlé employees in Sarawak was key in helping us drive MAGGI products especially in Kuching. She was so pleased to join us . It was nice to see Jennifer Wong from Sibu, Mary Liew and Catherine Cheng from Kuching – their first time .

MNRA Kuching celebrates 2nd Anniversary on 6th Sept 2014 at Sarawak Kuching Club with a luncheon

Cancelled/Postponed Events

The firefly excursion is cancelled due to poor response. At the same time the Annual Stepping Forward Walk for Wellness has been postponed. We were not able to get a suitable venue which would be easily accessible with a nice walking environment. Look out for it next year!
