A Farewell to MNRA Strong Supporter

by Aloysius Wong Teik Sung

It was our usual MNRA hi tea on  22nd July 2017, but MNRA members found a reason to celebrate and to bid farewell to En Adnan Pawanteh, who will be moving to Philippines to take up a new post as Technical Director.

About 90 attendees, including Factory managers, MNRA members and spouses, turned up in full force to meet Adnan and his wife and to say Bon Voyage.  Everyone present was treated to a sumptuous Hi Tea at the Concorde Hotel, Shah Alam.

Started rather quiet but soon, there were lots of fun and catch up amongst friends during the get together.  Everyone was pleasantly surprised by a singing session led by Mr. Khoo Soo

Luck with a modern rendition of “Leaving on a Jet Plane” plus other familiar oldies. Adnan and his wife joined in the singing and clapping as well.

This was then followed by a cake cutting to  say Bon Voyage. The MNRA members thanked Adnan for his support to the association and wished him all the best in Philippines. Keep the Malaysian flag flying high.

Good Moments, Good Food, Good Life and a good get-together.

Hope to see you guys next year. Mabuhay.

Chembong Factory, Here We Come

 by Jasmine Lee

Thanks to our Nestlé Technical Manager, Mr. Adnan Pawanteh, we had the privilege to visit our beloved Chembong factory on 18th July 2017.

Although the visit was to start at 2.00 pm, some arrived at 1.00 pm! Zahrah, and the factory team were there with a warm reception of MILO, NESCAFE, KIT KAT and RUBIES.

Mr, Phuah Choon Hin, the Factory Manager gave us a whole-hearted welcome and an introduction of Chembong factory. He shared on how engagement with the team has enabled the business growth in leaps and bounds even under the most challenging economic climate. We are happy to learn that the factory used many local materials and engaged 100 % local workforce. It was a very interesting and interactive half hour session.

The Confectionery Plant Manager, Mr Kaan Yazan and MILO Plant First Line Manager, Azizi Abdullah led the tour. Some were excited to meet up with old friends in the plant and happy to have a quick catch up. The new confectionery line was sleek and modern. We were curious with the new technology and asked many questions. It is  impressive to observe the cleanliness and orderliness of the plants.

When we returned to the meeting room at 4.00 pm, a sumptuous spread of Beehoon, fried chicken, curry puff, local kueh and a range of ice creams (complimentary from Ms Chong Yoke Fong, Factory Manager, Chembong Ice Cream) were waiting for us

We ended the visit with a beautiful group photo. Of course, Phuah and his team sent us off with a bag full of goodies!

It was definitely a memorable afternoon!
